With exports exceeding 157 billion dollars, turkish exports last year were the second highest in the country's history. According to data from the Turkish Exporters Association, six major sectors have contributed to export.
In a written statement, the head of the Turkish Exporters Association said that Turkish exports continued to grow uninterrupted in 2017 and that the sectors of cars, machinery, jewelry, defense and aviation, fruits and vegetables and ornamental plants reached their highest levels in exports last year.
According to the statement, car exports jumped from 2.4 billion dollars in 2000 to 28.5 billion dollars in 2017, while the machinery sector recorded a record of exports worth 6.1 billion dollars, and exports of jewelry sector reached 3.3 billion dollars, Exports of the defense and aviation sector reached 1.7 billion dollars, followed by the fruit and vegetable sector with exports of 1.4 billion, followed by the ornamental plant sector with 85 million dollars.
And according to the statement, Turkey's exports to 185 destinations around the world have increased significantly in 2017.
